GALLEY BEGGAR PRESS SHORT STORY PRIZE 2024/25

CLAIRE ARMITSTEAD is associate editor (culture) for the Guardian and Observer and a Guardian leader writer on literature and the arts. She worked for the South Wales Argus, the Hampstead & Highgate Express and the Financial Times before arriving at the Guardian in 1992, where her roles have included arts editor, literary editor and head of books. She founded and chaired the Guardian first book prize, and presented the Guardian books podcast for 10 years. She was deputy chair of English Pen for eight years, and has edited two books: The Bedside Guardian 2016 and Tales of Two Londons: stories from a fractured city (2017).
